Leaving civilization behind, this 60-mile rafting adventure descends a stunning limestone canyon in Montana's Big Belt Mountains. The Smith River is the only river in Montana where all river travelers must have a permit, and for good reason. The scenery, fishing, birding, archeology, geology and history are arguably some of the best in the lower forty-eight states. While meandering the curves and eddies of the Smith, we will discuss the adventures of Lewis and Clark and the history of the Blackfeet Indians, both of whom sought sustenance in the Smith River ecosystem. Whether you are a birder spotting some of Montana's finest fowl or an angler pulling in a brown trout, the Smith River is an adventure of a lifetime.
Price Adult: $2,990.00
Price Child: $2,990.00
Other Price: All fees included. Anglers fish from a drift boat (two people per boat maximum). If you're not interested in fishing you can still enjoy the beauty of the Smith from a raft for $1000 less!!!

Horseback riding and exciting whitewater rafting in the same day!
Great Northern Resort has teamed up with two of our best neighbors, who just happen to be the greatest horse outfitters in all of "Glacier Country" Swan Mountain Outfitters and Raw Hide Outfitters.
These cowboys have been providing scenic horseback trail rides for over a quarter century in our part of the country. Swan Mountain Outfitters is located inside Glacier National Park and has several locations in the park to choose from. Raw Hide Outfitters is across the street from Great Northern Resort, and offers a variety of times and rides throughout the day.
"What about experience?" No rafting or horseback riding experience is necessary for these adventures.
Just make sure you wear closed shoes and long pants for riding and shorts, T Shirt/bathing suit with shoes/sandals with backs to them (no flip flops)for rafting. This stretch of river is great for children age 12 and up during our Spring Runoff and for children age 7 and up in July and August.
This is an outstanding way to spend a summer day with your whole family!
Most people prefer to do the trail ride in the morning so they have a better opportunity to see wildlife and then return to Great Northern Resort after a lunch break. After a short drive up the canyon we put in for a half-day of whitewater adventure.
We return to the resort in the late afternoon where you can view photos of your rafting trip. Our office will be happy to help you with arrangements for your trail ride.
